How is this for sale - it is a up the pole aircraft at the moment?

Anyway i did what most should do - email the local councillors with your feelings clear. Save the plane - put it in a museum building on the site.

Karma?

It is not for sale at present, as the council are deciding what they are to do. Some are "suggesting" it could go to sale. Bit different me thinks.

Ive been informed already by 2 councillors that it should hopefully remain in Newcastle - but been a council issue - anything will happen.

Pity Govt funding for the RAAF doesnt see this Sabre as a tourism business earner - heritage issue in wider scale of things.

The council is understandably reluctant to fund the restoration at a cost of anywhere between 60 & 250K (not to mention further upkeep) of this aircraft on a stick, and you think that they should stump up the cash to fund a building to house it in?

Build it and they will come?

The "Hars option" seems to be a quite logical outcome if you ask me.

Donated to Fighter World at RAAF Williamtown in NSW, and now restored and I assume on display as their gate guardian?

http://www.nbnnews.com.au/2016/04/19...-former-glory/

A far better outcome than being left up a pole or expecting the RAAF to build a shed for it where it was?

While its still outside at least it can get regular maintenance and I assume they have a prinstine example inside the museum?

Regards

Well that is good.

Will need to get to Fighter World again one day. Now with the Sabre and the F111. Did they fit the F111 in the hangar without having to dump something else outside ?

Oh hang on. Google earthed it. I can see the MiG 21 and the Hunter now outside. No Sabre though so the Aussies get a roof it seems.

Wait till the pc scum get wind of that
