After this, we made our way to San Francisco.
I think we stayed three days not far from Alameda.

Pier 39, some reason, it's popular, so we visited.

During the stay in San Francisco, it was discovered that the Bay Bridge we had travelled across the day before was subject to a collapse in the big earthquake. Admin would not go across it anymore, so the remainder of foray's into the City from Alameda was via ferry. Admin spotted an A4 on display as we went past on the ferry. I didn't see it but we later drove up to the now empty base, used for filming of the now also redundant Myth Busters. And photographed it. I think it had just been refurbished.

Visited Alcatraz.

*Note* you need to book in advance. If you don't you have to pay a way over inflated price from a bunch of "gangs" that buy up all the tickets they can on the day, and then, sell them to you from a bunch of legal/dodgy locations.

We had to do it, after all, we were there, so we paid a lot more than the so called $28 each.

And, just to show you. The view from the ferry as we are about to go under the Bay Bridge. With San Fran skyline.

Also, the USS Hornet is a place to visit. They move the aircraft around a bit too it seems.
In 2011 this A4 was below decks and the next year, she was on top.

Also in the area, there is a school that has an A-4 on a pole. Cool.
This is the same school btw that was used in an episode of Myth Busters, who film just up the road from them. You might have seen the episode, where they try to burn a ship with a whole bunch of school kids holding up mirrors and concentrating it in one spot to cause heat. Like a magnifying glass.

Leaving San Fran, we drove back to LA. For over 100 miles, we kept getting signs that there was major roadwork a hundred miles ahead. And we kept getting them as we got closer. And when we got there, it was like 20 foot long stretch of road. We really were expecting something huge. Maybe, it's a huuuuuuge like a Trump huuuuuge. Sounds impressive, very little substance.

We joined up to Route 66 so we could stay at the Wigwam Motel. Yep, it was Wigwam shaped too. Not all that big but it was for the experience.
